Avoid policies that will deepen poverty, NEF tells Tinubu
The Northern Elders� Forum has called on President Bola Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, and all newly sworn-in governors to honour the oath they took, and fulfil their electoral promises to Nigerians.
The group advised the President that �policies that compound poverty should be avoided, and where difficult decisions need to be taken, they should be accompanied with compassion, sensitivity and adequate public awareness.�
The NEF gave the advice in a congratulatory message on Wednesday signed by its Director, Publicity and Advocacy, Dr Hakeem Baba-Ahmed.
Baba-Ahmed, stated, partly, �The Forum will work with President Tinubu and governors to actualise their promises to make Nigerians more secure and improve the economy to reduce poverty and desperation.�
While noting that there were pending� cases� before election petitions tribunals, some of which may go all the way to the Supreme Court, the NEF �appeals to members of the judiciary to show the highest levels of competence and integrity in the manner they treat these cases.�
