EX-NASU VP tasks union leaders on successful agitations

Former National Vice President of the Non-Academic Staff Union, Adenekan Kolawole, has charged union leaders to acquaint themselves with the required knowledge in their struggle for better livelihood and improved working conditions for their members.

Adenekan said this during the maiden annual seminar of the NASU of Federal College of Education Special held on May 10, 2023, at the college.

The union leader charged every member of labour unions with the need to know their rights and be committed to every struggle of the union.

He said, “Union members need to understand their rights and privileges. But, even more, union leaders need to be well equipped with genuine information before embarking on struggles and not just hearsays and conjectures that will fall flat in the face of data and the law”

Comrade Badmus Tolulope Adekunle, the Branch Chairman of NASU FCES, in his speech, said the objective of the seminar was to equip members with the requisite knowledge and capacity for the utmost performance of their duties.

“This seminar and others like it will be focused on empowering members, building their capacity for higher productivity and preparing them for any union struggle for better working conditions,” Badmus said.

In attendance at the event was the Provost of the college, Prof Kamoru Usman who was ably represented by the Deputy Provost, Dr. B.A Adebiyi, the Registrar Mr. J.A Araoye, former Branch union leaders , Rt Comr. Amidu Abiodun Ladigbolu, Rt Comrade Fagbemi A, and Sister Union former leaders, Rt Comr Lere Oladapo, Rt Comr Atinuke and other institutions’ Union leaders.

In his remarks, the planning Committee Chairman, Comr. Dotun Oni appreciated the ingenuity of the new inaugurated Executive.
