Immigration promotes 40 Lagos officers, warns against corruption
The Lagos State Command of the Nigeria Immigration Service, on Wednesday, promoted 40 of its officers who successfully passed the screening organised by the service.
The command disclosed that 3,228 officers were promoted to higher ranks in the exercise that held simultaneously across various commands in the country.
In Lagos, 10 officers were promoted from the rank of� Superintendent of Immigration to Chief Superintendent of Immigration, while 10 others were promoted from Deputy SI to SI; Nine were promoted from Assistant Superintendent (I) of Immigration to Deputy Superintendent; one officer was promoted from ASI (II) to ASI (I); Seven officers were promoted to ASI (II) and three officers got other ranks.
Delivering his welcome address during the event held at the Ikoyi office, the Comptroller of the command, CIS Mani Bagiwa, warned the newly-promoted officers against mediocrity, corruption and unprofessional conduct.
�As you advance in your career path, endeavour to lay aside every form of mediocrity, corruption, and unprofessional conduct while executing your duties,� Bagiwa said.
The comptroller noted that from the available statistics, it was obvious that not all officers who took the examination were eventually promoted, adding that, therefore, it was a call to responsibility to all promoted officers.
He encouraged those that were not promoted to remain calm and hopeful while anticipating upcoming promotion exams.
