North Central govs visit Akume, pledge support

Governors from the North Central region of the country on Thursday paid a visit to the new Secretary to the Government of the Federation,� George Akume, in his office.

The governors are Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau State;� Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia of Benue State; Yahaya Bello of Kogi State; AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of Kwara State; and Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State. The Deputy Governor of Niger State, Yakubu Garba, was also present.

The PUNCH reports that Akume, who is from Benue, a North Central state, was announced as the SGF by President Bola Tinubu last Friday and was sworn in on Wednesday.

�A statement by the Director of� Information,� Office of the SGF, Willie Bassey, said the Chairman of the North Central� Governors� Forum, Abdullahi Sule, assured Akume of the region governors� support.

The statement partly read: �The Chairman of the North Central Governors� Forum and the Governor of Nasarawa State, Abdullahi Sule, congratulated the Secretary to the Government of the Federation on his appointment by the President.

�He added that the governors from the North Central pledged to give the SGF the needed support to succeed in his new assignment.�

On his part, Akume commended the North Central Governors� Forum for the visit,� stating that the solidarity visit would serve as an encouragement to achieve greater strides for the nation.
