Gunmen storm Abuja community, kidnap four

Armed men in the early hours of Saturday invaded the Mashafa area of Mpape in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.

The gunmen, our correspondent gathered, abducted no fewer than four residents during the operation that lasted for about an hour.

A resident, who simply identified himself as Zack, told Sunday PUNCH that the armed men came for some specific residents.

He added that the gunmen separately broke into the houses of the victims and whisked them away.

Zack said, They came early in the morning around 1am with sophisticated weapons. The sound of their guns was very loud and it lasted for about an hour. With the people they kidnapped, it showed they had their targets and they one-by-one forced their way into their houses and picked them up.

Those kidnapped are an executive officer of a logistics company, a manager of a big bakery in the community, the other one is a manager of an oil dump company, and the last one works with a construction company.

When contacted, the FCT spokesperson, Josephine Adeh, promised to get back to our correspondent. She had yet to do so as of the time of filing this report.

But a police officer in the area confirmed the incident.

The officer who spoke in confidence to our correspondent because he was not permitted to comment on the matter said there was a distress call to their station from one of the residents.
