Monarchs must educate subjects on govt policies

The Olu of Iwa and Apapa kingdom, Oba Mohammadu Oluwa (Amore III), has urged traditional rulers to always sensitise their subjects to government policies.

A statement on Thursday said the monarch stated this recently in Lagos at his Ije (seventh day) celebration rites of his ascension to the throne.

He commended the administration of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for approving his proclamation as king.

Speaking to traditional leaders, the monarch said, You know we must tell them (the subjects) government policies which they must follow.

We also advise the government on the feedback from them on what (our) people want so that whatever the government will do to us it will be done for us.

Every Oba must not relent in explaining government policies to the people. Honestly, from day one of my enthronement and even before my ascension to the throne of my forefathers, the government has done tremendously well and I will continue to be loyal to them, he added.

In his remarks, the Chairman of Ajeromi Ifelodun Local Government, Fatai Ayoola, called on the new monarch to stimulate growth and developmental projects with his new position as the traditional ruler.
