LASU best graduating student gets N10m reward

As the Lagos State University, Ojo, holds its 26th convocation, the Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has announced a reward of N10m for the overall best graduating student of the 2021/2022 academic session, Aminat Yusuf.

Yusuf graduated with a perfect Cumulative Grade Point Average of 5.0 from the varsity�s Faculty of Law.

Speaking at the convocation held at the Buba Marwa Auditorium on the Ojo campus of the institution, Sanwo-Olu said, �We are celebrating an incredible feat attained by Miss Yusuf Aminat Imoitesemeh, who is not only graduating as the best student for the 2021/2022 academic session but also attained a perfect 5.0 CGPA.�

Announcing the monetary reward, the governor said, �As a reward for her brilliance, I will be giving her a token donation of N5m and the state government will give her an additional donation of N5m.�

The governor congratulated the university on its 40th anniversary and 26th convocation while recounting the institution�s achievements.

�Among its achievements, LASU, in 2018, was selected among 16 other universities in Nigeria and designated �Africa Centre of Excellence for Innovative and Transformative Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics Education� by the World Bank, and has commenced admission of international students to the programme,� the governor said.

The best-graduating student, in her remarks, recounted that she was faced with financial constraints during her study, but was determined and strove towards academic excellence.
