SAIL tech lab will boost youth development Lagos gov

The Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, on Friday, applauded the establishment of an Innovation Lab in the Ikorodu area of the state by the senator representing Lagos East at the National Assembly, Adetokunbo Abiru.

The governor said the initiative would further improve youth development in the state.

The project, known as SAIL, an acronym for Senator Abiru Innovation Lab, was done in partnership with Co-Creation Nigeria, with the aim of training young people in the latest technological innovations.

Sanwo-Olu said the project aligned with the governments plan to drive technology-driven skill acquisition.

He added, The commitment of this government is to ensure that we can leave this place far better than we have met it. This government has identified a partner in Senator Adetokunbo Abiru.

I am glad that Microsoft wants to make Nigeria its African hub. As a government, we will continue to provide an enabling environment for businesses to thrive. 65 per cent of new investments came to Lagos last year. You dont have any reason to leave the shores of this place. Once you finish your training here, we will link you up with Microsoft and all the banks are also looking for you. While you are here you can be an international employer in America, Canada and India.

Abiru in his address said the lab would offer free training to the beneficiaries. He added, We had a global economic meltdown but there are jobs out there, only that many dont have the skills to do these jobs. That is where Sail Innovation Laboratory comes in.

I can tell you that those that will pass through this lab will do so free of charge, and they will be here for six months. That is our contribution to society.
